Thanks for the flowers, but what I REALLY want for Mother’s Day is…

Rest. Relaxation. Time to slow down.

Isn’t that true?

We live in a go, go, go culture with tons of pressure to constantly do more, achieve more, and buy more.

But why are we doing all that? 

The reason we do more, achieve more, and buy more is to feel happy.
To feel relaxed and content.

You don’t need more stuff to be happy. You don’t need to complete all the tasks on your list. You don’t need to lose weight. You don’t need to “fix” your kids either.

If you aren’t happy now, those things won’t fix it. When you achieve the goal, lose the weight, or tick off every to-do, you’ll be the same person on the other side.

Flowers are nice, but more is not what we really need. We don’t need to do or have more.

The truth is that contentment is a practice.

It comes with slowing down, letting go more, and focusing on healing yourself.

This Mother’s Day, I invite you to slow down and let go a little. Take some time for inner reflection, answering these questions:

  • How do you want to feel when you wake up?
  • What do you want your experience with your family to be?
